It Is A Simple Thing For The Lord

Grace and peace be unto you.

The story is told that king Mesha of Moab stopped paying annual tribute to king Joram of Israel. Joram was displeased and joined forces with Jehoshaphat, king of Judah and the king of Edom to fight against him. Hence, the three kings started out on the journey to Moab.

After travelling for seven days, they could find no water for their men and horses. Joram feared that God wanted Mesha to defeat them, and so, they sought advice from Elisha, the prophet. Elisha told them that God would miraculously fill the dry valley with pools of water, as such, they would see neither wind nor rain. He informed them that the miracle is a simple thing for the Lord and they would be victorious over the Moabites. (2 Kings 3:1-19).

What is your need? It might seem like an impossible task to fulfil, but it is a simple thing for the Lord. Scripture reminds us that God created the universe and everything in it belongs to him (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1). His resources are unlimited, consequently, he is more than able to meet your need.

God gave the three kings a solution after they consulted him, even though Elisha was with them during the seven days. Similarly, God is with you and is waiting for you to seek his face. When will you discuss your need with him? “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool” (Isaiah 1:18).

Heavenly Father, thanks for your great love. Help us to be aware of your presence and availability. Grant us the desire and courage to discuss our needs with you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
