Grace and peace be unto you.
1. A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched. (Proverbs 28:25).
2. And he said to them, “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” (Luke 12:15).
3. Whoever is greedy for unjust gain troubles his own household, but he who hates bribes will live. (Proverbs 15:27).
4. No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. (Matthew 6:24).
5. One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give, and only suffers want. (Proverbs 11:24).
6. For all that is in the world, the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions, is not from the Father but is from the world. (1 John 2:16).
7. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. (Colossians 3:5).
8. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions. (James 4:3).
9. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matthew 6:33).
10. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep. (2 Peter 2:3).
Heavenly Father, blessed be your holy name. Help us to abstain from greed. In Jesus’ name, amen.
