Grace and peace be unto you.
The story is told that Jonathan, Saul’s son and David were very close friends. Hence, while David was at Horesh in the Desert of Ziph, hiding from Saul, Jonathan went to meet and comfort him. He told him not to be afraid because Saul would not hurt him. He further added, “You will be king over Israel, and I will be second to you. Even my father Saul knows this.” (1 Samuel 23: 15-17).
Surprisingly, Saul was trying to kill David so he would not be king, although he knew that David would be king. He knew that all his attempts would fail, still yet he kept on trying. He was so desperate for his son to succeed him as king that he tried to do the impossible. Sadly, each failed attempt motivated him to try harder. Scripture says, “I know that God can do anything, and no one can stop him” (Job 42:2).
Perhaps God has given you a dream and there are people trying to prevent it from becoming a reality. Similar to Saul, they know that God is with you and your dream will come to fruition. However, they are trying to break your morale, hoping that you will give up. And by so doing, their dream will become a reality. Do not be deterred, continue trusting God and doing good. He will take care of your enemies. At the right time, he will make your dream come to fruition.
Heavenly Father, thank you for this insight. Help us to focus on you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
