Grace and peace be unto you.
The story is told that God advised the Israelites he would give them the land of Canaan. His strategy would be to send terror ahead of them and create panic among the people whose lands they invade. But he would not drive them out in a single year because the land would become desolate and the wild animals would multiply and threaten them. Instead, he would do it gradually until their population increased enough to take possession of the land (Exodus 23:27-30).
God communicated his plan, strategy, and motive to the Israelites. He did not provide all the details, but gave them enough information so they have a general idea. His plan became their dream and provided direction for their lives. Their trust in him increased as they slowly experienced the fulfillment of his plan.
Interestingly, God has also shared his plan for our lives with us. The dream that is on our heart is his plan. Perhaps you have been diligently working towards the fulfillment of your dream and disappointed that it is not yet accomplished. Maybe you are even wondering if the dream is from God. Well, it is, but he is fulfilling it little by little. The reality is that it may take several years for your dream to be realized, but God has given you the grace to endure (2 Corinthians 9:8).
Each step that you take which is directed by God, leads you closer to the fulfillment of your dream. Most importantly, God is always available to speak with you, hence, do not hesitate to share your concerns with him. Scripture says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives” (Psalm 37:23).
Heavenly Father, thank you for communicating your plan to us. Help us to understand that you are accomplishing it gradually and grant us the patience to walk with you daily. In Jesus’ name, amen.
