Time For Action

Grace and peace be unto you.

The story is told that Joshua was distraught about being defeated by the men of Ai. Consequently, he tore his clothes and lay face down on the ground before the Ark of the Lord until evening. While there, he earnestly petitioned the Lord. The Lord heard his cry and told him to get up. Then he asked him why he was lying on his face. After which, he gave him instructions (Joshua 7:1-15).

Fasting and earnest prayer are proven methods to receive a response from God. Interestingly, Joshua got an answer within 24 hours. Scripture says, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart” (Jeremiah 29:13). If you are facing a dire circumstance, I encourage you to fast and passionately pray. God will not despise a broken and contrite heart (Psalm 51:17).

Perhaps you have been fasting and praying about a particular issue for some time, while waiting on the Lord for a response. Well, he is telling you to stop praying and fasting, listen to his instructions, and obey. The season for fasting and praying about that issue has ended. You are now in the season of answer and action. God promised that he would answer you at the right time (Isaiah 49:8), and today is the right time.

Heavenly Father, thank you for responding to our requests. Grant us the courage to follow your instructions. In Jesus’ name, amen.
