Grace and peace be unto you.
Do you recall how your partner pursued you before marriage? Or how you would stop at nothing to get the attention of that special person? Perhaps your partner told you that he would drink the ocean dry for you, or you treated your love interest like a precious gem. Similarly, you are God’s love interest and he pursues you to win your heart. However, unlike your suitors, he pursues you to save you from destruction and give you a better life (John 10:10).
The story is told that God instructed Hosea to forgive and love his wife again although she was unfaithful. He complied and his relationship was restored (Hosea 3). Similarly, despite the Israelites’ unfaithfulness, God still loved them. He ensured that they pay the consequences for their sins because he disciplines those whom he loves (Hebrews 12:16). Nonetheless, he forgave them and restored everything they had lost. Most importantly, he constantly reminded them of his love and presence.
It is accurate to say that God pursued the Israelites relentlessly with his love. Today, he is doing the same thing with us. He surrounds us with his love. He sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous and causes his sun to shine on the evil and the good (Matthew 5:45). He provides, protects, and guides. His grace and mercy are available. There is nothing that can separate us from his love (Romans 8:38-39). Are you experiencing his love?
Heavenly Father, thank you for your determination and everlasting love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
So much wisdom in these words. Thank you.
