Grace and peace be unto you.
For God speaks again and again, though people do not recognize it. (Job 33:14).
The story is told that God instructed Hosea to marry an adulterous woman and have children with her. He obeyed and had three children. God’s instructions symbolize the Israelites’ unfaithfulness to him, his punishment for them, and his everlasting love (Hosea 1). He used an unusual method to send his message to Israel. Yet still, it was the most effective one.
Today, God has the same concern about us, that is, our unfaithfulness to him. Some of us have many gods, chief of which is ourselves. We spend an exorbitant amount of time worshipping ourselves and do not make the time to worship him. He is our creator and loves us very much. He sent his only Son to die on the cross, he forgives our sins, and meets our various needs. Even so, we give him scant regard. Suffice to say, he is displeased.
God has made his displeasure known through various mediums but we have turned a blind eye, determined to continue on the wrong path. Nonetheless, he continues to encourage us to repent and return to him wholeheartedly, hoping that we will obey. Scripture says, “Today when you hear his voice, don’t harden your hearts as Israel did when they rebelled” (Hebrews 3:15).
Heavenly Father, thanks for your grace and mercy. Help us to obey your voice today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
