Are You Upset About God’s Decision?

Grace and peace be unto you.

When was the last time you were upset about a decision that God made? How did you respond? Sometimes God’s decision does not align with our desire. In such instance, he expects us to adapt our perspective to his. His decision is made from a place of love and purpose. Scripture says, “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness” (Jeremiah 31:3).

The story is told that Jonah spent three days preaching God’s message throughout Nineveh. The people listened and repented. When God saw their humility and repentance, he had compassion on them and did not destroy their city as promised. Nonetheless, Jonah was upset that God did not fulfill his promise, and prayed that he might die. God saw his response and reminded him that he is concerned about everyone (Jonah 3-4).

Perhaps you are in a situation where you were expecting God to make a particular decision. However, you are left shocked and upset by his unexpected decision. He wants you to know that his decision is the best, all things considered. You look at things from the natural perspective, hence you only see a part of the picture. He sees the complete picture. As such, his decision is made from an “eternal” perspective.

God is asking you to accept his decision and trust him. He desires that no one should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Consequently, he makes decisions that result in the saving of lives. You may feel pain or discomfort, but it is mild in comparison to that which his only Son endured, when he died on the cross.

Thank you Lord, for the decisions that you have made. In Jesus’ name, amen.
