Grace and peace be unto you.
When the donkey saw the angel of the Lord, it lay down under Balaam, and he was angry and beat it with his staff. (Numbers 22:27). …The angel of the Lord asked Balaam, “Why have you beaten your donkey these three times? I have come here to oppose you because your path is a reckless one before me. The donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If it had not turned away, I would certainly have killed you by now, but I would have spared it. (Numbers 22:32-33).
What is the right path? The right path refers to decisions and actions that are supported by scripture. It leads to the accomplishment of our purpose. The right path is God’s path. Hence, when you want to make the right decision, it is best to search the scripture and see what it says. Then, obey and give God the glory.
Balaam was on his way to meet with Balak concerning his request for him to curse the Israelites. The Lord had initially told him not to go because the Israelites are blessed. But he sought God’s face a second time concerning the same matter and he gave him permission to go. Nonetheless, he advised him to only deliver his message (Numbers 22:4-20).
Sometimes we know our decisions are in conflict with scripture, still yet, we seek God’s face, hoping he will tell us what we want to hear. Consequently, if he does not, we are displeased, and disobey him. Other times, we make decisions before consulting him and hope that he agrees with them. For example, accepting a job offer or choosing a life partner. Irrespective of our intentions, God appreciates when we seek his face and therefore responds. Scripture says, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).
The right path leads to life and satisfaction while the wrong one leads to misery and death (Proverbs 14:12). God does not coerce us to obey his words. He reminds and encourages us. Furthermore, if we are on the wrong path, he places stop signs at several points hoping we will reconsider.
Heavenly Father, thank you for leading me on the right path. In Jesus’ name, amen.
