God Will Exalt You

And the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses.” (Joshua 3:7).

Are you tired of waiting for the promotion or recognition? Your promotion and recognition will come from God and not man, therefore do not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time you will reap a harvest if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Moses led the Israelites for 40 years and they knew that God was with him. He died and God chose Joshua as his successor. The Israelites welcomed Joshua but waited to see if God would perform miracles through him. Hence, God gave Joshua instructions for the Israelites to cross the River Jordan when it was at flood stage. Joshua followed God’s instructions and everyone crossed safely (Joshua 3). They also recognized that God was with Joshua. God exalted Joshua in the eyes of the Israelites.

God chose you to serve in a particular area or ministry. You have been serving faithfully for many years without promotion or recognition. You have become discouraged even as you watch less qualified persons being promoted. Joshua was focused on completing his assignment when God told him that he would be exalted. Furthermore, his assignment was used to exalt him. Perhaps you could consider shifting your focus from the promotion to your assignments, and do them to the best of your ability. God may use one of them to exalt you.

God sees your disappointment and is asking you to remember who is your ultimate boss. Do not be perturbed by earthly promotions and recognitions. When God exalts you, everyone will marvel including you. Then, you will have renewed respect for him. Continue working to please him. As surely as the sun rises and sets, he will exalt you.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your faithfulness. In Jesus’ name, amen.
