Grace and peace be unto you.
Do you know who God will use to bless you? God created all of us and we are valued in his sight. Hence, he uses anyone he pleases to bless us. Our blessings may be delivered by a drug addict, a homeless person, or a street dancer. If we are not humble and discerning, we will miss them (James 2:1-4).
The story is told that Joshua sent two spies to spy out the land of Jericho. The spies went to Jericho and stayed at the house of a prostitute, Rahab. The king of Jericho was informed that the Israelites came to spy out the land, and so he sent two men to Rahab’s house for them. However, Rahab hid the spies and told the men that they had left. Then, she told the spies that everyone was in fear of them because they heard about what God had done on their behalf. After which, she helped them to escape (Joshua 2).
Rahab’s profession did not prevent God from using her to help deliver Jericho to the Israelites. She was valued despite her profession. Similarly, you are valued because you are a child of God. Your profession, wealth, or status does not increase or decrease your value in God’s eyes. He desires that we see each other from his perspective, Scripture says, “Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other” (Romans 12:10).
Heavenly Father, thank you that we are valued because we are your children. Help us to embrace this perspective. In Jesus’ name, amen.
