God Is Depending On You To Pray

Grace and peace be unto you.

“…May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10).

How often do you pray? Do you get results? The Bible encourages us to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17). God speaks to us when we pray frequently. For example, Peter went up on the roof to pray and the Lord told him to minister to Cornelius (Acts 10:9-17). In another instance, Daniel was praying and God gave him information regarding the future (Daniel 9).

God is All- Powerful, even so, he created us to have relationship with him. He uses the relationship to carry out his plan for mankind. Hence, he depends on us to pray for his will to be done. The story is told that after three years of drought, God informed Elijah it was going to rain. Nonetheless, it rained after Elijah prayed (1 Kings 18: 41-45).

God could have sent rain without Elijah’s prayer because nothing is impossible with him (Luke 1:37). But he chose to work through Elijah’s prayer, thereby setting a precedence for us. He instructed us to pray for our leaders that peace might reign (1 Timothy 2:2). As we obey this command, he orchestrates events to ensure that peace reigns.

Sometimes we neglect to pray because we do not have the desire. However, in those instances we ought to ask the Holy Spirit to give us the strength. I have been in several situations where I did not feel like praying and I asked the Holy Spirit for help. He quickly came to my assistance and empowered me. Scripture says, “Ask and it shall be given…” (Matthew 7:7). God is relying on you to pray at every opportunity and has given you all the resources to do so.

Heavenly Father, you are sovereign in heaven and earth. Help us to understand that you need us to pray regularly. Grant us the love and desire to communicate with you. In Jesus’s Name, Amen.
