Grace and peace be unto you.
“Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).
Scripture says that Peter and six of the disciples went fishing all night without success. However, in the morning Jesus told them to cast their net on the right side of the boat. They obeyed and were successful (John 21:6). God wants us to succeed but he will not miraculously grant us success all the time. Instead, he gave us instructions to follow, “Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do” (Joshua 1:8).
The story is told that Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce Joseph but was unsuccessful (Genesis 39:7-11). Joseph was determined to honor God by obeying his Word. Consequently, God eventually promoted him to the second highest office in Egypt. When we obey God, he is obligated to bless us in accordance with his Word. There will be instances when we disobey, nonetheless, God expects us to repent and rekindle our relationship with him.
Throughout our Christian journey, sometimes we will become discouraged, even so, God encourages us with his Word. The Bible says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28). We are confident that God will use our circumstances for his glory. Therefore, we keep on trusting him.
Although God wants us to obey his Word, he understands our human limitations. And so, he gave us his Holy Spirit who is available continuously. Our duty is to call on him when necessary. For example, Holy Spirit please give me the strength to complete this task or grant me the insight to manage this problem. He will respond promptly. I encourage you to do a trial run.
Heavenly Father, please help us to understand that you want us to succeed. Grant us the desire to obey your Word. Help us to develop an awareness of the Holy Spirit. In Jesus’s Name. Amen.
