Grace and peace be unto you.
Do you know that your enemies watch you frequently, waiting for the moment when you disobey God’s Word? Enemies include acquaintances, family, and associates. They will use the information obtained to discredit you when the opportunity arises. However, God encourages us to live a life worthy of our calling so we are blameless. Scripture says, “So be careful to do what the Lord your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left” (Deuteronomy 5:32).
The story is told that God favored Daniel. In return, Daniel was faithful to him and carried out his earthly duties with integrity and excellence. As a result, Darius the King of Babylon was impressed with Daniel’s ability and made plans to promote him to rule over the entire empire. Nonetheless, some of Daniel’s colleagues were jealous of his pending promotion and searched for faults in how he handled the government affairs, in order to disqualify him. But their attempts were unsuccessful.
They persisted and eventually persuaded the king to issue a decree that any person who prayed to anyone except him should be thrown in the lions’ den. Daniel heard about the edict, yet still he continued praying to the Lord. His instigators reported him to the king and he was thrown in the lions’ den for a night. Nevertheless, the Lord sent his angel and he closed the lions’ mouths so Daniel was unharmed (Daniel 6).
God’s favor on your life motivates your enemies to initiate plans that can harm you. Daniel was blessed and trustworthy in the eyes of God and men. Even so, his enemies devised a plot to have him killed. Scripture says, “…the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world” (1 John 4:4). God intervened in Daniel’s situation and his life was spared.
God favors you, the psalmist wrote, “For you bless the righteous, O Lord; you cover him with favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12). Perhaps you are in a situation where your enemies have plotted against you because of God’s favor on your life. Stand firm and keep on serving the Lord. He will come to your rescue in his time. Scripture says, “…no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you” (Isaiah 54:17).
