Grace and peace be unto you
“Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds” (Psalm 36:5).
Do you have a testimony of God’s faithfulness? Throughout my life, I have heard numerous testimonies about how God provided for and protected his children. The Bible tells of his loyalty and I have experienced his faithfulness many times. Therefore, God’s faithfulness has been proven. Scripture says, “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19).
Sometimes we do not see God’s faithfulness in specific situations because our expectations are different from his. The story is told that Baruch, Jeremiah’s scribe, was disgruntled about his status in life. Hence, he complained about his faithfulness to God and disappointment that God did not bless him in the manner he expected. Furthermore, he felt that God made his life more painful and sorrowful. God heard his complaint and told him that he should not seek great things for himself because they do not last. He advised him that he would always protect him from danger (Jeremiah 45). God’s faithfulness to Baruch was to guard his life rather than give him wealth or promote him to a high office.
Are you expecting God to bless you in ways that he did not promise? If so, you will be disappointed because his faithfulness is directly aligned with his promises. Nevertheless, do not be daunted, share your disappointment with him. He will listen and respond in his time (Isaiah 49:8). The good news is that God’s response will strengthen you, correct your misperceptions, and guide you on the right path. The psalmist says, “He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake” (Psalm 23:3).
I pray that God will open your eyes and heart for you to understand his promises and expectations. May you embrace them as you travel the path he has ordained for you. I pray that you will experience his faithfulness and tell others about him. May his Holy Word guide your steps always. In Jesus Name, Amen.
