Grace and peace be unto you.
“I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?” (Jeremiah 32:27)
The story is told that there was a man who has been an invalid for 38 years. He was lying beside the pool of Bethesda waiting for someone to put him in so he could be healed. It so happened that Jesus came by and heard about his condition. He asked him if he wanted to be healed. The man told him that he had no one to put him in the pool. Jesus then told him to get up, pick up his mat and walk. He obeyed and was healed (John 5:1-8). This invalid man only needed a Word from Jesus and obedience to be healed.
Although the invalid man was at the pool for some time, he was still hopeful that he would be healed eventually. His hope was not in vain since the opportunity came through Jesus. He was so prepared for his encounter with Jesus that there was no hesitation, nor question, he simply obeyed his instructions. When Jesus approached him, he readily spoke with him, listened, and complied. Jesus knows your greatest need and has the word that will fulfill it, but you must talk with him, listen, and obey. How prepared are you for an encounter with him?
It is interesting to note that when Jesus asked him if he wanted to get well, he answered neither “yes” nor “no.” Instead, he told him why he was not healed, “there was no one to put him in the pool.” He avoided the direct answer and stated the obstacle. Perhaps, he wanted Jesus to put him in the pool, even so, Jesus had another plan. Scripture says, “Jesus can do more than we can ask or imagine…” Ephesians 3:20). The obstacle was beyond the invalid’s control but within Jesus’s power and authority. Therefore, Jesus taught him the invaluable lesson that he only needed him and obedience to be healed.
The Bible says, “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7). If you have been waiting on someone for a long time to help you achieve a goal, it is time to talk with Jesus. You may not need that person and Jesus will tell you. In the event you need help from someone, Jesus will inspire the right person to assist. The Ethiopian Eunuch was reading the Bible and did not understand. And so, Jesus sent Phillip to explain the Scripture to him (Acts 8:26-35). Jesus is waiting to share his life-changing word with you. Will you give him the opportunity?
