Be Yourself, The Beautiful Person God Created You To Be.

Grace and peace be unto you.

A Word of Encouragement…

The word of the Lord came to me, saying, Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:4-5).

Some time ago, I listened to a preacher who shared that when he started preaching, he imitated other famous preachers’ mannerisms because he thought that was the way to grow his congregation. However, experience taught him that God gave him unique abilities to attract and lead a particular group of people. As such, trying to be like other pastors is not only neglecting some of his abilities but also insulting God. Scripture encourages us to please God instead of people, “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ” (Galatians 1:10).

The prophet Jeremiah stated that God sent him to the potter’s house where he observed the potter shaping the clay into pots that pleased him (Jeremiah 18:1-4). Similarly, God molds us into the persons he wants us to be. He gave us abilities and created situations that help us to develop a Christlike Image and accomplish our divine purpose. When we use our knowledge, skills, and personality for their intended purposes, God is pleased. The Apostle Paul wrote, “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor” (1 Corinthians 3:6-8).

You might have considered the question, how can I be the person God created me to be? The following suggestions will help you to grow spiritually, intellectually, and emotionally.

  1. Study and meditate on God’s Word daily.
  2. Praise God daily.
  3. Spend quality time in prayer and fasting.
  4. Do good to yourself and others.
  5. Obey God’s Word.
  6. Practice listening to God’s voice.
  7. Do an introspection and identify your strengths. This will help you to choose a fulfilling career.
