Grace and peace be unto you.
A Word of Encouragement…
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it…” (Isaiah 43:19).
According to the author of the Book of Numbers, the Israelites were on their way to the Promised Land and stopped at the Desert of Zin. There was no water, hence Moses and his brother Aaron sought God’s face. God told Moses to speak to the rock and water would flow from it. However, Moses disobeyed and used his staff to strike the rock. God was displeased and told them that they would not enter the Promised Land (Numbers 20:2-12).
Moses was accustomed to God using his rod to perform miracles, as such, he did not change his perspective to accommodate the new approach. He was a slave to the familiar. In Exodus 14:15-16, the Lord told Moses, to lift up his rod, and stretch out his hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel would go on dry ground through the midst of the sea. And in Exodus 17:1-8, he instructed Moses to use his rod and strike the rock at Horeb and water would come out of it for the people to drink. Moses trusted God to perform miracles with his rod but doubted that he would use another method.
Are you a slave to the familiar? Are you receptive to God’s voice? Moses was a great leader who did not adjust to God’s new technique. As a result, he did not accomplish his purpose which was to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land. Throughout the years, Jesus has used a particular method with you, nonetheless you are in a different season and he has changed his technique. But you have not responded favorably because you are a slave to the familiar. As such, you are either reluctant to obey him and use the new approach or you are so focused on the old approach that you cannot hear his voice.
Jesus wants you to experience more of his blessings and continue being a blessing to others. You will achieve this goal when you embrace the belief that he is all-powerful and can use any technique to fulfill his plan. Consequently, you will obey him, change your technique, and accomplish your divine purpose. The prophet Isaiah says, “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it…” (Isaiah 43:19).
